Mother of Influencer 'Fofo' Márquez Speaks Out

Days before the sentencing of 'Fofo' Márquez, the mother of the content creator gave an interview in which she discussed, among other things, Edith, the woman beaten by 'Fofo', and accused her of acting against the influencer's family. Last April, when 'Fofo' Márquez was linked to the process, his mother wrote a letter to the victim in which she apologized for the actions of the content creator. Now, Sandra Alcaraz declared that the situation experienced not only by her but also by her son, influencer Rodrigo Márquez, is due to the 'media hatred' that the victim of 'Fofo' generates by making statements to the media.

In an interview with Adela Micha published this Wednesday, 'Fofo' Márquez's mother lashed out at Edith Márquez, whom Rodolfo hit on the streets of Naucalpan last February. She claims that the family's suffering is due to Edith's statements. In her words: 'The victim does not have, I believe, consciousness, nor does she realize the damage she does every time she has a microphone in front of her because she always goes out saying that Rodolfo's family, who is very scared, that something is going to happen to them (...) if she were scared I don't think she would mess with us.'

To support her response, she states that not only her interviewer but Mexican society in general knows 'who are the families in Mexico that we should indeed be afraid of, and you don't mess with them.' Additionally, 'Fofo' Márquez's mother mentioned that since the case went viral where 'Fofo' hit a woman, people treat her family differently. She shared, 'I had never had problems, and now my neighbors attack me in the neighborhood chat, they scratch the cars, I really wish this would stop.'

Although she understands how the woman attacked by her son feels, Alcaraz assures that the hatred on social media and in real life is not against the content creator, confined in Barrientos since last April, but towards his family. She mentions that Edith has a microphone and does not tire of repeating what happened, unaware of the suffering she generates for the family. In her words: 'I understand that she has a lot of hatred, resentment (...) but all that hatred is towards us; Rodolfo is there locked up and does not grasp everything we are living through, we did nothing; Rodrigo (Márquez) has lost contracts, friendships…'

Additionally, 'Fofo' Márquez's mother expressed that the current situation of the Márquez Alcaraz family is complicated, especially for herself. She identifies with Edith, her son's victim, and mentions: 'The psychologist who spoke about her, about how she felt, everything he said, I identified with all points; he said that she had a social disorder and that with a year of therapy she would be fine, but I don’t know if she is going to therapy because the first step in therapy is forgiveness and it is for you, not for the person who caused it.'
